Guest speaker: Martin Hodson on COP26 | Thursday 21st October 2021 | 12.15-1.30pm | Online

This session was organised so attendees could feel better informed about who is representing us at COP26, what the delegates will be talking about, what is hoped for, and what we can do as Christians.  With this in mind, Martin Hodson, who is well known to this group, was booked to share with us on this subject. For those who don’t know Martin, there is a short bio by clicking here.

The following updates were issued from the group on what was happening in response to COP26 across the Diocese:

Local COP26 actions:

There are activities in response to COP26 that you can get involved with across the Diocese:

  • Gloucester - Cate is planning an event in Gloucester on 6th November. There are more details in the attached leaflet
  • Cheltenham - There is a Quiet Vigil taking place in Cheltenham on each day of COP26 (Sunday 31st Oct- Friday 12th November). Again, more details can be found on the attached leaflet.
  • Stroud - On Friday 5 November, 12.00-2.00 pm, Stroud Green Christian will be holding a silent prayer vigil outside the local MP’s office. On Saturday 6 November, 12.00-12.30 pm, Stroud Green Christian will be joining other local groups for a Vigil for the Planet, at the corner of Stroud High Street and Kendrick Street
  • Across the Diocese – Churches are being encouraged to ring their church bells at 6 pm for half an hour on 30th Oct. More details can be found by clicking here.
