Warm and well

Our guest speaker on 3rd November 2016 was Ruth Davey who works as the Partnerships Coordinator for Seven Wye Energy Agency. Ruth gave an illustrated talk about their "Warm and Well" initiative that:

  • helps people to stay warm and healthy at home;
  • recognises links between fuel poverty, poor health and energy efficiency and
  • works with community, CCG and other health related organisations and local authorities

Her slidedeck can be downlaoded here

Afterwards there was a lively discussion about how churches could do much more to offer practical support for those who are poor.

It so happened that Ruth's talk covered several of the Anglican Communion's Five Marks of Mission which are:

  • To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
  • To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
  • To respond to human need by loving service
  • To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
  • To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the Earth
